ŽDAS, a. s. has belonged to the top of the Czech engineering industry for more than 70 years. One of the traditional sectors that we deal with as part of our production is the area of railway transport. In addition to castings and forgings in various states of processing, one of the flagships of our production is complete turnkey production line solutions. These are individualized solutions for the production of railway wheels, axles, bumpers and equipment for the assembly and disassembly of two wheels. Our last delivered line of the hot section of railway wheel production for a renowned wheel manufacturer consisted of the following main units: tamping press, punching press, forming press, rolling mill and bending press. The line was delivered on a turnkey basis including other equipment needed for measuring, weighing, marking and transporting material in production, as well as including all mechanization, robots, hydraulic drives, electrical systems and control system including interconnection and communication with the customer’s enterprise system. After the implementation of the contract, which was divided into several stages carried out gradually between 2017 and 2021, we can confidently state, based on operational experience, that the application was very successful, as the customer achieved record production with it. Even so, we are not standing still and continue to develop the individual components of the equipment – we are currently working with our partners on the development of energy-saving drives, which, while maintaining the productivity of the equipment, will lead to a significant reduction in line operation costs.
